Spinkles gets a hair cut

Its about that time of year where Sprinkles is starting to get shaggy and needs a cut.  I suggested to Russ that we get her done professionally and then we could up keep her through the summer.  He agreed.  So our cute fluffy doggy went from this...

To this...

The girls were so excited to see that Sprinkles had bows in her "hair".  I admit she was pretty cute with them.  But she is a pretty rough and tumble dog and they fell out pretty quickly.

It really is fun having Sprinkles as our dog.  It is almost like we have two dogs.  Our nice furry winter dog who has the softest coat ever.  Then our Spring/Summer/Fall dog who is completely the most adorable weiner dog ever!  Lucky us!

Sprinkles gets a bath!

I know, I'm one of those crazy pet owners who takes pictures of their pets firsts, but I don't care if you think I'm crazy.  Sprinkles had her surgery done back in March.  They lady who we adopted her from brought her to us afterwards and gave me the care instruction papers.  Since I wasn't feeling to great at the time{morning sickness} I glanced at the papers and read that we weren't supposed to give Sprinkles a bath for six more weeks.  Darn!  She really was dirty and we hadn't thought to give her a bath before her surgery.

That night I let Russ know how long we had to wait, except I said something like six months!  A few weeks later I told Russ that we should give Sprinkles her bath.  Her fur was turning gray.  He reminded me that we needed to wait six months.  In my mind that sounded fishy, but I agreed to wait.  A few days ago I found the care papers buried on our desk.  I scanned them quickly, and saw that we didn't have to wait six months, nor six weeks, but really only two weeks!  Hmmm...guess I was a little more out of it than I thought when I read those papers.

I let Russ know and we got everything together for Sprinkles bath.  Me, Char, and Allie {Lily was at school} sat back and watched Russ give Sprinkles her bath.  Giving a dog a bath was new to me since my brother would always take his dog and just let her swim in the creek for her bath.  Sprinkles was pretty calm for the most part.  Russ did have to push a little on her to get her to submerge in the water, but over all she tolerated it well.

Such a cute picture of Sprinkles giving me the look of "why are you letting him do this to me?"

This is one of my favorite pictures of Sprinkles.  It really shows off that she is part Dachshund which isn't always apart when she is all fluffified..

Poor Lily came home and found out Sprinkles had gotten a bath.  She cried and cried because she had wanted to help.  I guess we will just have to give Sprinkles another bath soon so she can help out!

All wet!

We've been getting a few large storms roll through the past few days.  The rain comes fast and dumps on us, then moves on.  It is typical Texas weather, but can be a bit frustrating because our backyard turns into a swamp because of it.  Tonight Russ took Sprinkles out for her "potty break" and to empty out the buckets from our shed.  Between playing in the puddles and trying to catch the rain water that Russ through out of the buckets, Sprinkles quickly got soaked.  I handed Russ a towel out the door, and he came back in holding this cutie...

I guess having a puppy is like having a newborn in the house!   Sprinkles loves when Russ wraps her up like this and dries her off.  This puppy she is getting pampered around these parts!
