Put to work again!

I had another hair brained idea for a project.  I think this one came to me back in June or July.  We've had the wood for this idea since then.  It took up residence in our garage.  I almost started to convince myself that it had come with the house so that I wouldn't feel guilty about not even starting this project.  Russ bailed me out of this project though.  Isn't he great for doing that?!  In one weekend he managed to draw out my idea on the wood, find a router-type tool to borrow, and chisel out the drawing.  I'm excited for this project to start taking shape.  What is it you ask?!  I'll give you a hint....it has to do with Jack and the Beanstock.  Hopefully in the next week or so I will have the reveal of this fun little project.

PS Don't you love how Russ is using our old dinning room table as work bench?!  I think it may be time to buy him a real workbench, lol!

Fun Halloween Project

I've seen many variations of this project around some creative blogs that I look at.  I finally decided this would be a fun "cheap" way to add a new decoration to our Halloween stash.  Russ was very helpful with this project because I couldn't breathe the fumes of the spray paint, glue or sealer.  So truthfully this like 50% his project too!

Essentially what you are seeing is piece of wood that I have added nine Halloween scenes to.  I created all the scenes using a digital scrapbooking kit.  Then I printed them off my computer and adhered them to some foam board to give them a 3D effect.  I'm stoked the way it turned out and it has a new home on our mantle!  If anyone would like a more detailed tutorial on this let me know, and I'll write it up.  Just a thought since Halloween is almost over you could make a similar plaque for Thanksgiving or Christmas!

Head on view

Thank You Project

I found out that a lady in our ward takes family pictures...for FREE!  She is trying to improve her skills so she doesn't charge.  I've been over to her house on numerous occasions and have seen the beautiful pictures she takes.  I begged her to take some pictures for us.  Allie was only 2 months old in our last family shot.  I felt guilty for not paying her SOMETHING for her time, so I created this little thank you project for her.  After giving this to her tonight she told me Chocolate Chip Cookies were her favorite! Score!
